Blank Fiction

As with other people in the group I also found 'Blank Fiction' as a term very hard to define, there seems to be no clear definition aside from how Blank Fiction is a term that describes the writing of a generation of contempory US writers whose influence started in the 1980's.

Unfortunately I couldn't seem to find anything new to what had already been located by other students so I also looked at a book called Blank Fictions: Consumerism, Culture and the Contemporary American Novel by James Annesley. The writers of Blank Fiction tend to value superficiality over complexity, mass culture over high culture and youth over experience. James Annesley assess a wide range of recent American writing and identifies their principle unifying characterisitcs.

Overall, Blank Fiction, as the title suggests seems to be blank in how there is no clear definition. Unlike other genre's Blank Fiction is one that is hard to put your finger on.
